200 Up For Josh Ruffels

There will be a landmark moment at Walsall on Saturday when Josh Ruffels makes his 200th start for Oxford United.

The 26-year-old is one of the first names on the team sheet each week and Manager Karl Robinson has nothing but praise for the local lad who used to watch the team at the Manor as a kid:

“I think the world of him,” Karl said. “He is an absolute credit to his family as well as to the club and is a very good footballer. When I arrived he wasn't always in the team, so we had a great chat about it. He is tall, he is one of the fittest players in the club, he has a great left foot and is physically strong, so I said he had all the makings of a wonderful left-back. He has certainly made the most of that chance and I’d say is one of the best in that position in the league.

“Not just that, but the way he conducts himself around the club is first class. Two hundred starts is a little milestone but there are plenty more games and hopefully we celebrate it with a win at Walsall.”

Josh told us:

“I’m proud to have played for my home town club so many times. It’s great to be involved in the current set up and I am loving my football at the moment. Long may that continue.”
