Oxford United eSports Grows And Grows

Oxford United eSports continues to grow online and is now looking to expand to incorporate an Xbox one  team as well as PS4.

For the new season the team have seen a change in management with Wayne Cutmore at the helm. With his experience in the VPG world he has managed to recruit an experienced team in a very short space of time. As well as finding the right team Wayne also wants Oxford eSports to have a sense of community, in doing so he has recurited a co manager who lives in Oxford and enjoys watching the U's on a weekly basis. Having fans in the eSports teams is a key aim of the team and working as part of the community is a dream come true.

This season the U's face off in the vpg championship league which will be fiercely competitive and includes the likes of the official Scunthorpe United and Southend United esports teams.

The current season always promised to be hugely competitive and the toughest challenge to date for the esports team and their new staff roster. This did show with a slow start to the season; having a new team it took time to gel together whilst playing some of the big teams in the Championship.

However, the team now look to have turned a corner after putting 3 wins together and are now catching the top 5. Their key aim this season is to try to and gain a European place and build chemistry and grow as a team, to set themselves up for a title push and to win some silverware next season.

Aside from the team in the championship there is also an academy side to grow players into vpg and to help us recruit new players from fans to competitive players alike.

The Oxford United Esports Academy manager is Dominic Wade who writes:

"I want to start off by telling you a little about the playing squad which involves our very own Oxford fans, which creates a great atmosphere and a high level of team sprit and that gives us a sense of being part of Oxford United; the club we all love,

"We're a very close group that's got drive and determination to do be the best we can for our club. Josh Grant is my Co-manager;one of our own who comes from the Oxford Academy itself, and he has all sorts of duties being an assistant including In-game tactical Analyzation. Aiden Murray is our very own home grown Centre Back and Jack Kerry and Aaron Timberlake my midfield duo are the heart of the team where they battle, they fight, and they are the linchpin of the team - in my eyes the best outside the VPG Premiership.  Gavin Buckett is our super star striker who no defence want to come up against.

"I'll tell you a little about the season we're having as we approach the half way point, I could not have asked for a better start to the season winning our first 3 games without conceding a goal. Then we hit a top side in our division CityZens (Manchester City) with a 3-1 defeat. We then went on to pick up 6 points out of 9 in consecutive weeks after this and we're on a 3 game winning run including a great 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers Academy.  We still need to play everyone again but with the momentum we have got we will push for the league top spot despite  being 7 points behind

With the success of the PS4 teams we are now crossing platforms and expanding on to the Xbox one. We are looking for fans to get involved to help push the mighty u's up the table and make a name for the club in the esport community.

Do you enjoy FIFA pro clubs? if you would like to get involved we would like to hear from you!
