Oxford United enjoyed an afternoon at Polythene UK yesterday to see how our fantastic sponsors operate and how the award-winning polythene suppliers are helping companies reduce their carbon footprint.
Polythene UK managing director James Woollard gave staff a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities to mark the tenth consecutive year of sponsorship heading into the 2019/20 season.
He said: “To be involved with Oxford United from the first season back in The Football League was game-changing. We are fans. We put a lot into it but we get a lot back from it. We will be here as long as we are still in business.”
Oxford United have also started using Polythene UK’s carbon neutral bags in the club shop, becoming the first football club to use plastic bags certified in this way.
“What some companies use isn’t up to date,” James continues. “We use a thinner, stronger and greener version of what they use. It’s made from sugar cane waste, it’s sustainable and it’s carbon-neutral, so that’s been huge for us. That’s what we do.”
