Oxford United Women are delighted to announce the signing of defender Gemma Sims from Barton Rovers.
Experienced defender Sims, who previously won the WSL2 with Reading WFC, joins United for the remained of the campaign and Manager Liam Gilbert was delighted to be able to bring a player with such experience to the club:
“Gemma will be a big boost to the club. She adds great competition to the back line as well as composure and a lot of experience and knowledge about the game. Fans will see she’s a calm head on and off the ball, has a great left foot which brings us balance to the back line and I’m looking forward to working with her”
Sims, who is available to go straight into Sunday’s squad to take on QPR Women, has slotted into the group well.
“I’ve really enjoying training with the squad. The quality and tempo at training is really high and I’m buzzing to be back in this environment again. From the first day I’ve been welcomed in by the team. It’s a good setup and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and helping to push the club forward.”
