Oxford United’s young striker Slavi Spasov will miss out on a chance to train with the Bulgarian national under 18 squad due to injury.
Slavi, 17, made his first team debut earlier this season and has been a regular scorer for the under 18s and his form attracted the attention of Bulgaria, where he was born before moving to England aged 12.
Sadly a niggling ankle injury, which means that Slavi is also not involved with the under 23 side at Wolves tonight, meant he has had to decline the invitation to join a training camp with the Bulgarian U18 squad.
Academy manager Dan Harris said
“It’s bad luck for Slavi but what a fantastic boost for him to be in the national selectors’ thoughts. He has worked so hard this year, he has a great attitude, and I am sure there will be plenty more opportunities for him in the future.”
