PREVIEW Blackpool v Oxford United

Oxford United head for Blackpool in Sky Bet League 1 on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS
The U's will have to make changes due to suspension and injuries, with midfielder Cameron Brannagan unavailable after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season during the game at Accrington on Tuesday night.

However, the solution to that suspension may be simple - Ahmed Kashi was down to play in that game before illness ruled him out and the Algerian international could come in as a straight replacement, or John Mousinho might revert to midfield with Rob Dickie returning at the back.

Gavin Whyte is again ruled out with a head injury suffered against Peterborough last weekend, while Marcus Browne and Jamie Mackie limped off with hamstring problems and are unlikely to feature.

Mark Sykes, excellent on his full debut in midweek, is likely to continue in midfield, while top scorer James Henry stands by to start.

THE OPPOSITION

Blackpool are in receivership but boss Terry McPhillips does not believe it will affect his players ahead of the game.

“The players are fine, they’ve trained well,” he said. “It won’t be an excuse if we don’t do well this Saturday. We will have another meeting on Friday before we go training and preparing for Oxford, but as I say, I don’t think what has been going on will affect us on the pitch.

“Oxford have got some good players and I think they’re in a false position,” he added. “I watched them at Accrington on Tuesday and they got a couple of injuries themselves. But they’re very good going forward.

“At the start of the second half they were excellent but we’ve got to try and highlight their weaknesses and nullify their strengths. They conceded a couple of goals from crosses, but it’s football and you don’t always get what you deserve.

“They started the second half like a house on fire but Accy got the next goal and knocked the stuffing out of them a little bit. They’ve got good players to come back and we’re expecting a tough game."
