Women Aim For Consistency in 2020

It’s a big week for the men’s side but also a chance for the Women’s side to take stock as their season reaches half way.

“I think our character and determination has showed throughout” midfielder Cheryl Williams told us. “Results haven’t always gone our way so far this season, but we have a habit of nicking last minute goals and that shows that we don’t give up, we don’t stop working hard and we keep believing.”

“In the last few weeks we’ve had some really good results. But it’s not just the results, it is everything that goes with those results: the character, the belief, the fight, the determination, the togetherness – there are so many things that we can take away from the last first half of the season”

“If we’re honest, we’re frustrated at some of our results. I don’t think we’ve realised quite how big a team we are; I think other teams realise it and we don’t at times. There have been results that we’ll look back on and think that we should’ve got something out of it, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

“If we can get one of our players to be top goalscorer in the league again that would be great, while winning the county cup is also on our radar. We’ve got a difficult semi-final in February against Oxford City which will be a tough, physical game no doubt.

“It’s just about trying to find a bit of consistency where we are regularly picking up points. This year we haven’t; we have dropped points. It’s about whether we can change those performances into wins or draws, and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead.”
