Erick has most recently been Chairman of Inter Milan, and was previously the majority owner of MLS DC United, owner of Philadelphia 76ers basketball, as well as Chef De Mission of the Indonesia Contingent for the Olympic Games in London 2012. He currently holds positions as a FIBA board member and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee for 2015–2019.
He joins Chairman Sumrith “Tiger” Thanakarnjanasuth and new directors Horst Geicke and Zaki Nuseibah on the board at the U’s.
Tiger told us
“Erick is a very exciting addition to the Board. He shares my passion for football and I think what appealed to him was the chance to contribute develop the future for a club from a city as world famous as Oxford. He is a leading businessman and has extensively involved in entertainment, news and sports television channels plus digital platforms. I have known him a long time. Together with Horst Geicke and Zaki Nuseibah, they will be a major asset to this football club.
Erick said
“I have known Tiger for a long time now and as soon as he said he was looking to get involved with Oxford United I was interested in support him in some way. Most people know about the city but I was also interested in its football club. I have looked at their history- the 125th Anniversary has really shown how the club has been at the heart of Oxford and how the fans have been part of building the club.
“I think we need to acknowledge that history and keep the spirit of the club. If I can add my experience in some way to develop the club then that is great for all of us.
“I look forward to working with Tiger, the Board and the management staff at the club and look forward to meeting Oxford United family very soon.”
