Oxford United’s first team and Women’s side were at the Oxford Children’s Hospital this afternoon to spread a little Christmas cheer among the patients and staff.
Once again we would like to thank every fan who donated presents for the players to give to the children on the wards: we had an amazing response to our appeal and those presents, along with the huge pile of DVDs that the players bought for the day rooms, meant that the visit was a huge success.
Karl Robinson was there to meet everyone and the players spent the afternoon talking to those who may be spending Christmas on the wards.
Peter Rhoades-Brown helped organise the event and told us:
“It is a day we all love to be involved with. The Children’s Hospital is an amazing place, something which people across Oxfordshire know and may well have had to visit.
"The way the fans get behind us every year is amazing, and I’d like to thank Usborne Books for an amazing donation of books which will stay on the wards for everyone to enjoy.
“The players were fantastic and Karl made a brilliant gesture of donating an Executive box for the staff at the hospital to use for one of the Christmas games. That is very much in the spirit of what the visit was all about and we hope everyone at the hospital, whether they are patients or staff, have a very happy Christmas.”
