Oxford United hope to welcome back Curtis Nelson as they take on Gillingham on Saturday.
The U’s have back to back home games and hope that skipper Nelson will be back in the squad after a slight knee problem
“He looks alright” Manager Pep Clotet told iFollow earlier. “Last week was more precautionary but this week has had a full week and I am very positive about him.”
With John Mousinho also available after his Deadline Day arrival and Alex Mowatt likely to be involved for the first time the United boss has some interesting choices to make
“That is what the job is about and it is very welcome when you are in this position where everyone is working hard and available” he said. “It’s never easy but you take into consideration what everyone has done through the week. It’s straightforward really. You weigh up the value they had in the team for the last few games, what they did in the week and their attitude. People might think it’s the Manager who puts the players on the pitch but actually it’s the players who are pros and put themselves in the team or take themselves out of it…”
United have been impressive so far and now look to build on solid foundations
“We feel we have made a good start” Pep said “Two draws, two wins and we only lost one so eight points after only five games is very encouraging and the squad is gelling more and more. Every game is difficult in this league but given the fact we have two home games in a row we have to use them to make sure we get as many points as possible.”
