Oxford United would like to wish the team from Our Lady's Catholic Primary School the very best of luck this weekend when they represent the U’s in the final of the EFL Kids Cup at Wembley on Saturday.
The Year 6 team will take on a team representing Sheffield United before the League One Play-Off final, travelling up to stay in a hotel and have a tour behind the scenes at the stadium ahead of kick-off.
The Cowley school team won a city-wide tournament to represent the U’s and have since beaten schools representing MK Dons, Peterborough United, Southend United, Bristol Rovers and Millwall to reach the southern final - the boys were 2-0 down against Millwall in the semi-final before winning 3-2 in extra time.
A 4-1 win against Charlton in March sent them through to their big day ahead of the play-off final.
Ross Layton, School Sports Manager, said
“They have done really well and it is great to have a team representing the club play in the final. It is part of a wider scheme which sees us involved with hundreds of schools and thousands of young footballers all across the county and we are really looking forward to sharing the big day with them.”
