Pep Ready For Shrews

Manager Pep Clotet is looking for his players to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they welcome Shrewsbury Town to Grenoble Road on Saturday.

The U’s take on a Shrews side with a one hundred percent record so far and United’s Spanish boss knows his side face a difficult challenge:

“It will be tough” he told iFollow. “As we know, Shrewsbury are playing with confidence and have had three really good results and that puts them in a position where they have a lot of trust in their ability. It would be good to have the same atmosphere as we had at home against Portsmouth because we felt that gave us extra help that day.

“We bounced back when we lost to Cheltenham in the cup and are 100% committed to do the same again. But I also want to highlight that there were a lot of positives from the Scunthorpe game despite the result. We played well against a strong side who had a lot of success last year and we showed that we are very close. Obviously the game went for them, but it could just as easily have gone our way. But we have to move on to the new game, forget Scunthorpe and try our best to bounce back.”

Both Wes Thomas, who went off with a slight strain, and Marvin Johnson, who missed out with a hamstring problem, could return to the squad to face Paul Hurst’s Shrewsbury:

“They are both back in training. Marvin was back on Tuesday and Wes on Thursday so now we move on to deciding the team not just on training this week but also on how well players did last Saturday.”
