Oxford United have completed their second signing of Deadline Day with experienced defender John Mousinho joining the U’s.
Mousinho has skippered the Burton side and played for the Brewers in all three divisions of the Football League since joining from Preston in 2014.
Originally a midfielder, Mousinho has played close to 400 senior games since starting his career at Brentford before moving to Wycombe Wanderers in 2008. After a successful spell at Stevenage he moved on to Preston, where he was again captain, before his move to Burton.
The 31-year-old joins after leaving Burton by mutual consent earlier today.
Manager Pep Clotet said:
“He is a natural leader and fiercely competitive. He knows what it takes to win promotion from this division and is still very hungry to win things and be successful.
“We have a young squad but having more experienced players such as John, Mike Williamson , Ricardinho and Dwight Tiendalli is also a key part of what we are building; older heads to help the young players and to set a positive example. We look forward to working with him.”
