New role for Ruth in WSL set up
Oxford United are pleased to announce the appointment of Ruth Senior as General Manager of the WSL team.
Ruth has been working at the club as Female Development Manager for the last three years. She will work closely with Women’s Team Manager Les Taylor, Richard Blackmore, the General Manager of the Academy set up at the club, and the existing coaching team .
She told us:
“It’s a really exciting opportunity and one I’m really looking forward to. The Women’s side are now an established WSL 2 side and the emphasis this year has been on bringing some of the promising young players we have at the club into the side to give them experience. I have been very proud to help in that area and am convinced that many of our young players have very bright futures at the club.
“The league is being restructured over the next 12 months and when we come back it will be important to build on the success of the last few seasons and be ready for the new challenges ahead. I have worked alongside Richard and Les for a while and the enthusiasm and work ethic that everyone has behind the scenes is fantastic. I am determined to make the most of this chance and repay the faith that everyone has shown in me.”
Richard Blackmore said
“Ruth has been a fantastic addition to the club and has so much energy and drive as well as being excellent in an administrative role. With the Women’s game developing so quickly we recognised the need to restructure and have someone working full time at the top of our WSL programme and Ruth fully deserves her opportunity. I am sure she will be a massive success."
