Young U's take on Pirates
Oxford United’s youngsters start their FA Youth Cup campaign tonight with a first round tie against Bristol Rovers at Abingdon United (7.45pm).
The youth team, coached by Leon Blackmore Such and Andy Whing, have been in good form this season but will face a good test against the young Pirates in what promises to be an entertaining game.
Leon told us:
"It's a great competition and one we look forward to every year. We have been going well in the league and it was a close game against Rovers earlier in the season. The lads kept asking when the draw was, then they have been buzzing this week so it's a case of preparing properly, playing the way we know we can do, and making progress. Hopefully we will have a decent crowd - I know the coaching staff and some of the first team players are hoping to come along and support the lads and it would be great if fans came and got behind us as well."
With no midweek game for the first team why not pop along tonight and support the rising stars of Oxford United?
The match kicks off at 7:45 at Northcourt Road, Abingdon, OX14 1PL.
Adults will be able to enter the ground for £5 and under 18s/over 65s for £3.
