Pair back in training ahead of FA Cup tie
Oxford United hope to welcome back Wes Thomas and Ryan Ledson as they travel to Merstham in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
Ledson played the full 90 minutes in a Development game against Nike Academy at St George’s Park on Tuesday, scoring a good goal in a 2-0 win, and having suffered no negative reaction is set to return to the squad for the first time in a month. Thomas was due to train today after a calf problem and Michael Appleton told Yellow Player HD:
“Wes will train for the next couple of days, hopefully and if he’s OK then he will be involved. Ryan and Rob Hall both did well on Tuesday and will hopefully be involved in some way either on Saturday or at Chelsea on Tuesday.
“It’s not so good news for Sam Long though. He felt his hamstring go in the game this week and will be out for a while. You have to let those things settle down but it could be up to six weeks before he’s playing again.”
Loan defender Charlie Raglan also misses out with parent club Chesterfield not wanting him to play and become cup-tied.
We still have tickets left for this game but fans are reminded that there is NO COLLECTION on the day at Merstham: tickets will need to be collected from the Oxford United ticket office on Friday. Call 01865 337533 to join us. Call the same number to book a place on the London Road Coaches.
If you can’t be there then get along to Oxford City’s Court Place Farm to see the whole game live on the big screen.
