Rothwell joins on a two year deal from Manchester United, where he has been since the age of six. Now 21 he has been part of the senior Manchester United squad and spent time on loan at both Blackpool and Barnsley.
Both players had medicals this morning in Oxford and are heading for Spain to join up with the squad for their training camp.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“They are two very exciting signings. We have obviously worked with Chris before and know his quality and what he will bring to the squad, while Joe is a really talented lad who we believe has a very bright future.
