New award introduced for 2016/17 season
Sky Bet and the EFL are proud to announce the inception of a new award for the 2016/17 season – the Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month.
The Sky Bet Goal of the Month awards will celebrate the best goals scored in the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two throughout the season.
Each month, a panel of three representatives from the EFL, Sky Bet and Sky Sports will pick the best three goals scored in each of the three EFL divisions, to form the Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month shortlists.
Clips of the shortlisted goals will be available to view on SkySports.com, with fans able to choose their favourite in a public vote.
The winners will be presented with the all-new Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Month trophy.
The panel consists of the EFL’s Commercial Marketing Manager James Walker, Sky Bet Sponsorship Manager David Tweed, and former Wolves striker and Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman.
Fans of clubs in the EFL will play an integral part in this award, and can suggest goals for the panel to ponder by tweeting their Goal of the Month contenders to @SkyBet using the hashtag #SkyBetGOTM
All suggested goals will be viewed by the panel before they choose the shortlist and twitter handles of the fan who first suggested the goal will be included on the Sky Sports site when the nominations are announced.
Suggestions for the Goal of the Month awards will be collated throughout the month, so fans are encouraged to send their nominations in as soon as they see a great goal – starting with those scored this weekend!
