Smithson and Roofe are our guests as United take on the Dale
This Saturday sees Oxford United welcome Rochdale for this season’s RETRO DAY and we are delighted to say that two great names from the past will be helping us roll back the years.
Rodney Smithson made over 175 appearances for the club between 1965 and 1974 and will be joining us along with a more recent hero. Kemar Roofe needs little introduction to U's fans and we are delighted that he will be joining us as our special guest on Saturday: come along and thank Kemar for the memories and wish him good luck for the future at Leeds United.
The U’s return to league action against the Dale and we are asking fans to come along wearing their favourite old Oxford United kits and shirts for Retro Day. Which is your favourite shirt of old? Or maybe you fancy coming dressed as one of the club’s Cult Heroes: how about a Trevor Aylott headband, a Malcolm Shotton horned hat or Martin Gray’s nose band?
There must be hundreds of heroes you can copy, but don’t worry: bringing your favourite scarf, tracksuit, flag or coat will do just as well.
We will be offering spot prizes on the day and will have a special retro quiz on the Facebook page later in the week.
