Youngsters get great chance for first away game
Oxford United are delighted to announce a brand new initiative to encourage the next generation of U’s fans to get behind the team.
Believed to be the first of its kind in the league, the U’s' fixture away at Stevenage on Saturday 31st October 2015 will be the first annual ‘Family Away Day’.
For the first time ever, there will be a dedicated Family coach travelling to the game alongside the normal London Road coaches, to encourage supporters to take their junior yellows on the road and back the boys away from home.
On board the family coach, supporters will be able to get involved in U’s themed activities, win ‘money-can’t-buy’ prizes and soak up the away day atmosphere among other like-minded families. Families will be joined by club staff and current first team players for the short journey, giving junior yellows the chance to find out about their experiences in the game.
Oxford United’s Customer Services Manager Sarah Gooding said:
“We have worked closely with the Yellow Army to plan the day and are excited about taking some of our junior yellows on what could be their first ever away day. We have been liaising with the match day team at Stevenage, who won the Family Club of the Year award last season. They have been brilliant in supporting the day, and we have some special surprises planned for our families who travel to the Lamex Stadium on Saturday 31st October, including appearances from Olly the Ox and Olivia in the stand.
“We have also worked hard to provide benefits to our dedicated #Ox4Life season ticket holders by providing half price coach travel to the parents and guardians of our #Ox4Life supporters, as well as providing FREE travel to Under 16s, to make the possibility of a Family Away Day a very real and affordable experience.”
