Local pride at stake as young U's enter the FA Cup
It's FA Youth Cup time tonight as the Oxford United under 18s take on Kidlington at Abingdon United's Northcourt Road.The U's enter the competition to take on local rivals Kidlington who have won four games to reach this stage for the first time in their history.
United knocked out higher league opposition opponents Bristol City and Swindon Town last season before losing to Premier League Manchester City in the third round.
Skipper Canice Carroll has already appeared on the bench for the first team this season, although midfielder Lewis Hayden and keeper Jack Stevens are not involved after playing for the under 21 side this afternoon.
The match kicks off at 7.45pm at Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL. Turnstiles open at 7pm and admission is £5 for adults and £2 for under-16s and over-65s. A programme will be on sale for 50p (subject to availability).
The winners will face either Exeter City or AFC Bournemouth away in the second round.
