Striker Taylor joins Oxford United
Oxford United are pleased to announce that Ryan Taylor has agreed to join the U’s on a two-year deal.
Ryan, 27, is a 6ft 2in striker who began his career at home town club Rotherham United, making over 100 appearances and scoring twice in the 2010 play-off final at Wembley. He then joined Bristol City in 2011 for an undisclosed fee. In January 2014 he moved to Portsmouth, scoring ten times for Pompey last season in his 41 appearances.
Head Coach Michael Appleton welcomed Ryan to the club, saying:
“Ryan is another really strong addition to the squad. He works hard, scores goals, he leads the line really well and he is someone you know is going to make life very hard for opposition defenders. He was one of the best forwards in the division last season and we are delighted to have him here.”
Ryan said:
“It’s an exciting move for me. Oxford have big plans and I have been very impressed by the set-up and by the ambition that everyone has shown. They proved what they can do during the second half of last season and I’m looking forward to reporting back for pre-season, getting to know the lads and being part of a successful side here.”
