Oxford United to play SC Wiener Neustadt
Oxford United will be heading to Austria as part of their pre-season preparations this summer.
The U’s will fly out to Austria after their first friendly of the summer at Didcot on July 11th for a week-long stay which will include a friendly at SC Wiener Neustadt on the evening of Tuesday 14th.
SC Wiener Neustadt play in the Austrian Bundesliga, the top division, and The U’s will be based at a training camp just outside the city, which is around 40 miles south of Vienna in north-east Austria.
Head Coach Michael Appleton said:
“It’s a big part of our pre-season and one we are all very excited about. We went out to look at the facilities and discuss the arrangements and were really impressed. It is a chance to get away together as a squad for a week, make sure the new boys feel part of everything and get some serious work done just before the new season.
“I am sure there will be a number of Oxford fans looking to come out and watch the game and it is a week we are looking forward to.”
The club has worked closely with Oxvox and the Yellow Army to produce a Fans Guide to the trip which can be downloaded HERE.
Fans planning to make the trip to support the U’s are welcome to attend an open training session at the training camp on the Wednesday with the opportunity to meet the players, although all other training sessions will be closed to the public. Full details will be available soon, and always first at oufc.co.uk
