Young U's beat the Baggies
James Roberts and John Campbell were on the mark once again as a United development side beat a West Bromwich Albion development side in a friendly this afternoon.Roberts, scorer on Saturday against Exeter, again showed his predatory nature with a fine volley at the end of a move sparked by Sam Humphreys, while Campbell’s neat side-foot finish from a Miles Welch-Hayes cross after good work from AJ George sealed a confidence boosting win for a youthful United who took a look at two trialists as well as a number of their promising youngsters.
“We worked our socks off” coach Micky Lewis told us. “Every one of them put in a decent shift and the attitude was spot on. West Brom were good but Max Crocombe made two fantastic saves and the defence in front of him were very solid.
“The two lads up front looked lively and have scored their goals again to give us an excellent win.”
