Liontrust back the U's with popular pre-match bar renamed
Oxford United are delighted to announce that Club Principal Partner Liontrust have confirmed that they will sponsor the popular FanZone at the Kassam Stadium for at least four matches this season.
The FanZone has proved incredibly popular with United fans, providing ales, lager and cider on a matchday in a giant marquee just in front of the South Stand.
Holding up to 500 fans each game the Fanzone is one of many improvements to the matchday experience this season including the new Legends Lounge and Matchday Restaurant.
Liontrust, whose name appears on the exciting new home and away shirts this season, have proved great supporters of the club - follow @liontrustheroes for exclusive content from behind the scenes on matchdays.
The newly named ‘Liontrust Heroes FanZone’ will be in operation this Saturday for the visit of Yeovil Town in Sky Bet League 2.
It will then return for the home games against Morecambe 26th October, Cambridge on 14th November and Exeter on Boxing Day, with both the club and Liontrust exploring options for the second half of the season.
Kevin Smith, Director of Business Operations said:
“This is a fantastic gesture by Liontrust, enabling us to confirm a series of games where the newly named ‘Liontrust Heroes Fanzone’ will be available for supporters.
“Since the Priory pub closed, we are aware it has been difficult for fans to meet for a chat and pint pre-match. The support of Liontrust means that for the selected games this facility will now be available.
“I’d like to thank Liontrust for their fantastic support of Oxford United”
Simon Hildrey, Head of Marketing and Distribution Strategy at Liontrust said
“For football fans, match day does not start at kick off and end at the final whistle. A key part of being a fan is meeting your mates before and after games to talk and then talk some more about football, whether it is about your own players and club, rival clubs or football gossip in general.
“This is why we have teamed up with Oxford to establish the Liontrust Heroes Fanzone. This gives fans a place to meet before home games to chat about and analyse the week's events before willing the team to victory.”
