Join us on Sunday for the last home game of the season
Lauren Allison struck twice for Oxford United Women at Bristol Academy, but it wasn't enough to prevent a narrow 3-2 defeat to the WSL 1 side in FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup group 3 last night.
Nicole Barrett was handed her debut at right back for the U's, while 16-year-old Steph Weston made her first appearance off the bench after impressing at youth level.
Allison fired United into a surprise lead in the first half with a superb solo effort, but the hosts levelled before the break through Jade Boho-Sayo.
Caroline Weir put Bristol in front after the break and Boho-Sayo added a third from the penalty spot. But it was United who would have the final say, Allison notching a second from close range and setting up a grandstand finish with the visitors in the ascendancy, but there wasn't enough time to find an equaliser.
United: Lambourne, Barrett, Dandridge, Osborne-Ricketts, Lane, Pinker (Weston 65), Nutman, King, Stanley, Allison, Toussaint.
Les Taylor's side have their last home game of the season this Sunday when they welcome Aston Villa to Northcourt Road in Abingdon. Oxford United season ticket holders and anyone with a ticket stub from Saturday's home game against Yeovil can watch the game for FREE. Kick off is at 2pm
