Full Match Pack
We look ahead to Saturday afternoon as United head to Southend United in Sky Bet League 2.

TEAM NEWS
On-loan striker Alex Jakubiak comes back into the squad for United’s trip to Roots Hall on Saturday. Jakubiak scored on his full debut against Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend and stands by for selection again after missing the trip to Cheltenham Town to play for the Scotland under-19 side. Jon Meades is unavailable due to beginning a three match suspension following his red card at Cheltenham, while Danny Rose is also doubtful after a short appearance as a substitute in the same match ended with him tweaking his hamstring.

However, Michael Collins and Johnny Mullins are set to return to the squad after not being involved in midweek.

It’s a game that head coach Michael Appleton is looking forward to:

“Southend have been building a good side for a couple of years now and in Phil Brown have a really good manager, so I expect them to be near the top again this season. We haven’t had the results yet, everyone can see that, but we know they will come. It’s a case of staying strong, keep doing the right things and the results will come our way. We will certainly go to Southend looking to win the game.”

See the full interview plus a great Preview Show featuring Michael Collins, Ryan Clarke and Mark Ashton, all in Yellow Player right now.

THE OPPOSITION
Southend have managed to pick up only one point in their last three games after a run of two straight defeats followed by a draw. Last time out in League action the Shrimpers suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Plymouth Argyle.

Manager Phil Brown said:

“We need to work on the mentality of the players first and foremost ahead of Saturday’s game against Oxford United. We haven’t won games for a reason and that’s down to the mentality. We’re conceding goals that we weren’t conceding last season. We’ll be working on the mentality of a clean sheet which we did have last season. If we get that clean sheet, things will take care of themselves at the other end.”
