Full squad names for third pre-season game

  • Meades, O'Dowda and Ruffels stand-by
  • Third game of pre-season for Michael Appleton
  • Live commentary in Yellow Player

Jon Meades, Callum O’Dowda and Josh Ruffels all stand by for their first starts of pre-season as Oxford United head for Didcot on Saturday (3pm).

The trio have sat out the games at Farnborough and Oxford City so far but are now fully fit and will be eased into action at the Draycott Engineeering Loop Meadow Stadium.

“All being well they should start the game” Head Coach Michael Appleton told Yellow Player this morning. “We will train today and then decide but there were no new knocks after Tuesday and everyone will be involved. Where possible the lads who got half an hour at City will get longer on Saturday. Fitness wise we are pretty much where we need to be at this stage and every game sees little things we have been working on in training happening in matches, which is very encouraging.”

United will head for Bisham Abbey for a training camp next week and Michael is hoping to have one or two new faces with the squad:

“There is an outside chance something may happen before the weekend but we don’t want to bring people in just for the sake of it, they have to be players who will improve us and add to the squad. If it takes until next week to get them in then we will wait and they can be part of it at Bisham Abbey.”

With Meades, O’Dowda and Ruffels involved and Jake Wright available again after being rested as a precaution at Court Place Farm United send a full squad to Didcot other than Ryan Clarke and Andy Whing after their summer operations.

Admission at Didcot is £6 for adults, £3 for OAPs and Students and FREE for under 16s accompanied by an adult.

OUFClive will be tweeting throughout the game and there is live commentary on the whole match LIVE in Yellow Player - see Michael Appleton’s thoughts on the week in Player right now.
