Oxford United Head for Bisham Abbey Training Camp

Training camp set for Bisham Abbey

  • Oxford United to train at Bisham Abbey
  • Change of environment and team bonding exercise says Michael Appleton

Oxford United’s first team squad will be heading for Bisham Abbey next week as their preparations for the new season gather pace.

Michael Appleton’s players have worked hard in training so far and enjoyed two good wins at Farnborough and Oxford City and make the short trip to Didcot on Saturday with Jon Meades, Callum O’Dowda and Josh Ruffels ready for their first appearances of the summer.

The squad will then head for the Buckinghamshire/Berkshire border  to Bisham Abbey, one of the most recognisable training bases in the country.  Bisham is one of Sport England's National Sports Centres and is home to a number of National Governing Bodies of Sport. It provides excellent facilities as Michael Appleton told us:

“The players have worked hard and done well in the games but it is always good to get the whole squad away for a few days in pre-season. We will stay there for the early part of next week and we know the facilities at Bisham are spot-on.

“It is a change of scenery, a chance for the team to get together and bond, and a chance for me to see how they operate as a group and individuals.”

The stay at Bisham, from Monday to Thursday, means that next week’s Development Squad game at Kettering has now been cancelled.
