New striker enjoying being with The U's
New signing Danny Hylton has hit the ground running this week as United reported back for pre-season.
Danny joined from Rotherham earlier in the summer and fitted in straight away as the United squad went through a series of tests on their first day back.
“The boys have been very welcoming, the gaffer, all the coaching staff everyone seems top drawer so I settled in nicely on the first day.” Danny told Yellow Player. “I know a couple of the lads already and played with Danny Rose at Aldershot so it hasn’t been too difficult to settle in. The facilities are excellent and I’m looking forward to the challenge here.”
Danny has stayed in shape during the off season and looked sharp in his first two days of training. Yesterday’s tests were replaced by a double session of endurance work today but the former Aldershot front man took everything in his stride.
“I have worked hard this summer because I want to hit the ground running” he said “It was a good standard from everyone to be fair.”
The U’s will report to Brookes University tomorrow for VO2 Max tests, which provide a great test of their endurance and lung capacity, but with testing nearing completion Danny and the squad know that the hard work has only just begun as they prepare for an opening day fixture at home to Burton Albion.
“I have enjoyed it” Danny smiled. “There has been a lot of running but we got the footballs out this afternoon as well and everything has been really positive.”
