Midfielder hopeful as Oxford United head for Plymouth Argyle in Sky Bet League 2
United will wait on the fitness of midfielder Andy Whing as they head for Plymouth this weekend.
Whing pulled up with a groin injury in the first half of Saturday’s game against Fleetwood and was substituted at half time, but has responded well to treatment this week and took full part in training today.
Provided there is no adverse reaction then he will travel with the rest of the squad on Friday morning, as Gary Waddock told Yellow Player:
“We will monitor the situation but hopefully he will be part of the squad. It is a big game for both clubs and you want as many options as possible. We have been sensible with Whingy this week made sure he is OK and then he joined in training today. It’s just a case of seeing how he reacts but we are hoping he will be fine.”
There was further good news with Alfie Potter also responding well to treatment and targeting a return for the Easter weekend games at home to York City and away at Scunthorpe.
