Tournament to be held on Sunday 30th June
OxVox will be holding a 6-a-side tournament this summer to raise funds to invest in Oxford United and the OUFC Youth and Community Trust.
The tournament will take place on Sunday 30 June on the astro pitch at the Oxford Academy in Littlemore. The Oxford United legends team will be defending the trophy they won at the last OxVox 6-a-side in 2010, which sold out in under an hour!
There’s space for 24 teams in this tournament, which means every team is guaranteed to play at least FIVE 14-minute matches. The cost to enter is £75 per team and can contain a maximum of ten players. All the profits will be reinvested in sponsoring either Oxford United or the Oxford United Youth and Community Trust.
OxVox chairman Mark Sennett said: “Two years ago we ran a tournament and it was fully-booked within an hour and so we had to immediately add a second tournament, which also filled up the same day! So we’ve decided it’s high time that we ran another tournament and give fans the chance to snatch the prestigious trophy away from the Oxford United Legends.
“This is not only a great chance to have good fun and play against some of your heroes (plus Peter Rhodes Brown) but also raise money for us to invest in the club. The last tournament was historic as Mickey Lewis actually scored but unfortunately I have to live with the shame of conceding it.”
