Katie Stanley talks about playing for Team GB
Oxford United Ladies' winger Katie Stanley is currently with Team GB at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia.Team GB face Brazil in the tournament's semi-finals tomorrow, having thrashed the Republic of Ireland 8-0 in yesterday's quarter-finals. The team are feeling fairly confident as they beat Brazil 2-0 in the qualifiers.
Katie, who attends the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, told www.oufc.co.uk about her time with the squad at the games:
"The tournament has been an amazing experience so far. It's hard to describe something like this unless you are here because of the scale of it. It's great to walk around and see so many different athletes from so many different nations everyday, all eating in the same huge food hall.
"My best performance was against Estonia which was our final group game. We won 5-1 and i managed to score the first goal which was a really good moment.
"We hope to come home with a medal and go as far as we can in the tournament. We are playing every other day so it's physically tough but we have been doing all that we can to recover every day and prepare for the next game."
