Berwick preview

A look ahead to tomorrow's match against Berwick

United continue their pre-season with a game at Berwick Rangers on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Team News
Manager Chris Wilder is likely to shuffle his pack following the 1-1 draw at Alloa on Wednesday night.

Deane Smalley, who has scored in both friendlies this week, has been partnered with new signing Dave Kitson against Ardley and Alloa but James Constable may get an opportunity alongside Kitson for a longer period this time.

Triallist Matt Heath is still doubtful so the back four of David Hunt, Michael Raynes, Jake Wright and Tom Newey could continue. Jon Meades, who can play at full-back as well as in midfield, is likely to feature somewhere in the starting eleven, while youngsters Kenzer Lee, Matt Bevans, David Lynn, Sam Long and Callum O’Dowda will be hoping for some game time.

Berwick
The Wee Gers play in the Scottish Third Division, where they finished seventh last season. There is one familiar face among their roster, which includes goalkeeper Ian McCaldon who played for United in 2001-02, although Berwick have recently signed keepers Paul Grant and Billy Bald so the Eagle may not get to play against his former club.

Berwick, famous for being the only England-based Scottish League side, play at Shielfield Park, which holds 4,131 and which is also home to the Berwick Bandits speedway team. They most recently played a friendly at Ashington, which ended 1-1 with Berwick's goal scored by Darren Lavery.

Tickets and Directions
Tickets for tomorrow's game cost £8 for adults and £4 for concessions.

Shielfield Park can be found on Etal Road, Tweedmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed. The postcode is TD15 2EF.
