Chris Wilder on Torquay Draw
Manager Chris Wilder was left frustrated by the result but applauded the effort and commitment as his side drew 0-0 with Torquay United on Saturday. The U’s had the lion’s share of the game, especially in the second half, but could not find a way past a stubborn Torquay back-line, which left Chris in reflective mood as he spoke to Yellow Player after the game:
“I’m not sure how we didn’t win that game, with no disrespect to a good Torquay side. We pushed them back, especially in the second half, and I thought we coped with them very well. With just a touch better finishing we win the game from my point of view.
“ I thought we reacted in a positive way after Tuesday and I’m disappointed for the players and the fans that we didn’t get the result that we deserved.
“We were full of life and full of positive play. You can see that we’re not exactly brimming and flowing with confidence, because of the position we are in, and the results that we have had. We are still looking for that bit of consistency but we didn’t play like a bottom of the mid-table side and if we produce performances like that I’m sure we will climb the table.
“ We showed the right attitude today, which I commend the players for.”
