Ten out of Ten

Youngsters march on with tenth straight win

United's under 18's made it ten straight wins in a row with a 7-2 win over Hereford United on Saturday.

Callum O'Dowda was the star man for the youth team with a hat-trick, with Jermaine Udumaga, Justin Niangasa, Scott Gee and Leon Lalor-Dell also on the scoresheet. Coach Chris Allen told www.oufc.co.uk:

"Another great result and especially pleasing this week because we had a very young side out. Callum took his goals very well but everyone played their part and Jermaine got the assist on four goals as well as scoring himself. Then you look at the younger players like Scott Gee who is an under 16, or Matt Woodley and Josh Lathby at full back,  and you can see why we were so pleased with the result.

"We didn't start that well and were 1-0 down from a corner, which we didn't deal with properly, but the boys are playing with great confidence and didn't panic and kept playing their stuff. The goals started to flow and we were always in control of the game with Callum a constant threat with his runs in behind and his link up play and Jermaine dominating the midfield.

"Over all it was pretty good, although you could see the younger boys tiring towards the end.

"It sets this week up nicely. We are at home to Plymouth in the FA Cup second round and that's always going to be an exciting game."

The FA Cup second round game takes place at Thame United's ASM Stadium on Wednesday evening, kick-off 7.30pm. Admission is £5 adults, £3 concession and the bar and facilities at the ASM Stadium will be open for supporters wishing to come along and take a look at this exciting bunch of young footballers.
