Oxford United Women reached the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire County Cup with a convincing win over Banbury United Women on Sunday.
The first goal came in the seventh minute when an aggressive tackle brought striker Georgia Timms down in the box and earned a penalty for the Yellows. Timms picked herself up to slot home the first goal of the game.
This was closely followed in the ninth minute by a well-placed corner which found Bobby Lynch who made it 2-0
Shortly before half time a shot from Emily Allen was blocked by the keeper but rebounded to the feet of Timms who guided it goalwards again for her second of the afternoon. This was followed just before the break when Lauren Allison stabbed a shot under the keeper and into the back of the net, leaving the Yellows with a four goal lead at half time.
Banbury came back strongly after the break but a fantastic strike from Cat Beaver in the 72nd minute flew into the back of the net and set the stage for a further goal from Timms two minutes later, giving her a hat trick.
The game finished 6-0, taking the tally for the U’s in the first round of the competition to 24 with no goals conceded.
