Oxford United supporter Ed Shrimpton needs your support as he is set to take on a mammoth 50-mile ultra marathon this week, all to raise money for Oxford United in the Community and the Joey Beauchamp Foundation.
Running from Manchester to Liverpool on Good Friday, Ed is attempting to complete 50 gruelling miles, with funds going to both charities to help improve lives in the county.
It’s a huge task and Ed needs as much support as possible. You can help by donating to his campaign by following the link HERE.
Ed is also a regular member of Oxford’s Official Running Club, United Run Dept. Speaking to OUTV before the victory over Sheffield United, Ed spoke about the importance of United Run Dept. in inspiring him to get back out on the pavements, and the significance of the charities he has chosen.
He said: “I’m an Oxford fan and I grew up watching Joey flying down the wing. He has had his difficulties and now there is an important charity set up to stop others from doing what he done.
“The combination of that and Oxford United in the Community in helping the whole county is special to me. To do the run wearing the number 11 on my back for the Club charity is an honour.
“It will be about 10 hours of constant running. It’s a physical challenge, but a mental one as well!
“I’ve been running on and off for many years, but United Run Dept. started up this year and going to those runs gave me a spark. Meeting like-minded people is fantastic, and the social side has, as I said, given me that spark back.
“It’s a nice leisurely run with people of all running abilities. You will always find someone running at the same pace as you. It’s very organised across nice venues, so I would encourage anyone to go.”
