Oxford United's U18s had a weekend to remember as they set aside the disappointment of Tuesday's Senior Cup defeat at Ardley to put six goals past Swindon Town in their own backyard.
A brace for Jack Lee was supplemented by goals for Mo Missanga and Leo Snowden as the U's found themselves 4-0 up at half time. In the second half, Snowden grabbed his second and Harrison Bradney also got in on the act as the side put in a dominant performance to extend their lead at the top of the Youth Alliance League South.
Snowden opened the scoring in the ninth minute as he ran on to Lee's flicked header and raced through on goal, converting from a tight angle.
Just a minute later it was 2-0 thanks to Missanga reading a poor back pass, latching on to the ball and rounding goalkeeper Lucas Myers to convert.
Lee made it 3-0 in the 27th minute. Snowden reached the byline and pulled the ball back. Missanga's shot was saved by Myers but Lee pounced to smash the loose ball into the net from close range.
Another poor back pass led to United's fourth on the half hour, this time Lee nipping in to fire the loose ball home to take the game beyond Swindon.
The second half was just eight minutes old when Oxford extended their lead even further. Snowden taking responsibility to curl a free kick around the wall and into the top corner, giving Myers no chance.
The scoring was completed in stoppage time by Bradney, who collected a pass from Lee, made space for a shot and fired home from the edge of the area to complete a fine afternoon's work for the Yellows.
This leaves United on 44 points, three ahead of AFC Wimbledon who overtook Luton on 40 points. Gillingham are a point further back but have played a game more.
