Oxford United Women travelled to Billericay for their final away game of the season and came away with a 1-0 win courtesy of Phoebie Poole's late winner.

The first half was a tense affair, with little in the way of clear-cut chances for either side. United were able to force a couple of corners as the half went on, but the home defence remained solid and there was no way through for the U's.

Oxford started to turn the screw in the second half, with a Kate Wiseman free kick ending with Nicola Gibson poking the ball into the net, only to be denied by an offside flag.

United made five changes in a bid to freshen things up and they went close again from another Wiseman set piece. However, as the game wore on with no breakthrough it started to get tense.

That was until the 83rd minute, when Poole collected the ball and drove forward before shooting home to win the game for the U's.

United complete their season on Sunday 27 April with a home game against second-placed Hashtag United (2:00pm kick off).

UNITED: Howard, Gibson, Wiseman, Creaney (Jenkins), Legg, Poole, Richardson (Budaieva), Gotch (Wellesley-Smith), Burridge (Bryant), Trinder, Barrett (Barratt)
