PREVIEW: Oxford United vs Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough preview

Oxford United's Championship season continues with the visit of Middlesbrough this Saturday (3:00pm kick off). Ahead of the game, the Catherine Wheel in Sandford (OX4 4YP) is hosting a pre-match Family Fun Event for all home supporters.

The fun will begin when the pub opens at 11.00am. There will be a craft and activity room featuring a variety of activities for younger fans (and the young at heart!), from activity sheets provided by the club to face-painting and the chance to decorate a Christmas card to be sent to your favourite player. For older fans, you will be able to test your knowledge of Oxford United trivia with a quiz sheet provided by OUSP. There are even prizes!

The Catherine Wheel’s food truck will have their usual offering of excellent burgers, fried chicken, sausages and chips, so you can fuel up ahead of the match.

OXFORD UNITED

Oxford will be boosted by the return of Cameron Brannagan, Matt Phillips and Przemysław Płacheta to the squad, while the seven players who were away on international duty all returned with a clean bill of health, including Indonesia winger Marselino Ferdinan, who grabbed a brace for his country in their 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia. Dane Scarlett also scored for England U21s, while Peter Kioso made his debut for DR Congo.

MIDDLESBROUGH

Boro are in 7th place in the Championship and making their first visit to Oxford since 1997, and their first-ever visit to the Kassam Stadium. They will be without midfielder Aidan Morris, who turned his knee while training with the USA, while Hayden Hackney will be assessed after he withdrew from the England U21 squad with an ankle injury.

TICKETS & TRAVEL

  • CLICKING HERE
  • Calling the Ticket Office: 01865 337533
  • Visiting the Ticket Office in person

The Res Gate behind the North Stand will be closed both before and after the game, meaning pedestrians will be unable to use that route to access the far side of the ground.

There are roughly 2,000 free car parking spaces at the ground, but these do tend to fill up quickly, so please make sure you get to the stadium early if you intend to park there. Alternatively, take one of the Football Special buses. Full details on getting to and from the Kassam Stadium can be found HERE.

Supporters should also check out our Matchday Guide HERE for a full run down on the match day experience.
