PREVIEW: Exeter City vs Oxford United

Oxford United travel to Exeter City on Saturday (3:00pm kick off) for their Emirates FA Cup third round tie.

The sides previously met in the FA Cup in November 2022, when goals from Matty Taylor, Cameron Brannagan and two from Billy Bodin earned Oxford a 4-1 win at the Kassam Stadium. The last time the teams faced each other was in the final scheduled game of last season, when Mark Harris and Brannagan struck to earn United a 2-1 win and a place in the League One play-offs.

OXFORD UNITED

United go into the game on the back of a four-game unbeaten run under new head coach Gary Rowett.

The side last reached the fourth round of the competition in 2019/20, when they were beaten 3-2 by Newcastle United after extra time following a goalless draw at St James' Park.

EXETER CITY

The Grecians are looking to reach the fourth round for the first time since 1981, when they went all the way to the quarter finals.

City assistant boss Kevin Nicholson said: "We are familiar with Oxford and they have a lot of players still involved from the times we have played them in recent years. They have a new manager which has shown an upturn in form, but the FA Cup is a great leveller.

"We want to feel the excitement, and feel the history, and we want to feel the opportunity to make history and be able to watch that fourth round draw with real excitement."
