Oxford United’s Men, Women & Academy were honoured at the annual End of Season Awards sponsored by Interprint, with Ciaron Brown and Phoebie Poole winning the top prizes.
Taking place at the iconic Oxford Town Hall, Brown and Poole scooped both the Players’ Player of the Year Award, and the Supporters’ Player of the Year Award for their top performances for the Men and Women’s sides.
Around 300 people gathered to celebrate an outstanding season for the Club, with the event hosted by Sky Sports’ Mark McAdam who was joined by Arsenal legend Martin Keown as the guest speaker.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner provided by Elegant Cuisine as the awards were handed out, with a host of speakers entertaining the crowd including Men’s and Women’s team head coaches, Gary Rowett and Sam Rose.
There was much to celebrate, as on Saturday, Oxford United Men’s Team secured their safety in the Sky Bet Championship for next season, with one of the performances of the season as they defeated Sunderland 2-0 at home.
When it came to the awards, nine were handed out as we celebrated the efforts and achievements of both squads.
The first award of the evening was the Jack Casley Young Player of the Year Award sponsored by Smiths Bletchington, which was won by Leo Snowden for his outstanding performances in the Academy, who enjoyed a stellar season reaching cup semi-finals & finishing second in the league.
Next up was the Golden Boot awards sponsored by Grundon Waste Management, with Mark Harris and Phoebie Poole taking home the prizes for the Men and the Women.
Community Player of the Year sponsored by Bradford Decorating went to Will Vaulks for his work in helping to develop a new suicide prevention campaign into the Club, as he looks to save lives from suicide.
The Mickey Lewis Club Person of the Year sponsored by Davies International went to Performance Chef, Jody Palmer, for his contribution in upscaling the overall professionalism within the nutritional department.
The Joey Beauchamp Goals of the Season sponsored by Wellers was voted for on the night by the guests with Cameron Brannagan’s crucial strike against Cardiff City, and Zoe Barratt’s stunning freekick against Billericay Town earning the awards.
Then it was into the prestigious awards of the night, starting off with the Men’s & Women’s Players’ Player of the Year sponsored by Textures Flooring and Tropiglaze.
On the Men’s side, the players awarded defender Ciaron Brown for his fine consistency, while on the Women’s side it was Phoebie Poole who got her hands on the honour.
Then it was the Supporter’s Player of the Year, first with the Women’s award sponsored by Gregory Surveyors which went to Phoebie Poole for her third honour of the night.
Then in the Andrew Knapton Men’s Supporters’ Player of the Year sponsored by Interprint, Ciaron Brown got his second award of the night as he was honoured by the fans.
