Oxford United are delighted to announce the signing of Jack Currie on a long-term contract.
The 22-year-old left-back joins from AFC Wimbledon where he won the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award last season.
Currie moved through the Wimbledon youth team before going on to play more than 120 first team appearances, and will join the squad for the pre-season training camp in Spain.
Speaking to the Club for the first time, he said: "The gaffer, the coaching staff, and obviously the project they had laid out is something I'm really excited about and is something I've been looking forward to for so long.
"The club is at the stage now where it's looking to push on and it is a privilege to be a part of. The gaffer has trust in me to do a job and obviously perform week in, week out with the boys.
"I'm the type of player to play for the badge if the cause is right, which it is here. I'll run through brick walls, I'll play with passion and with my heart on my sleeve. At the end of the day I need to do a job defensively, and that's what I like to think I'm very good at."
Des Buckingham, Head Coach, said: “Jack is a player that has really impressed us and we are delighted to bring him in.
“He fits in perfectly to the way we want to play and arrives with plenty of experience in league football.
"We believe he can make a positive impact on our current group and also has the type of character that will help us continue to drive and develop the culture and environment within our team."
Head of Recruitment, Ed Waldron, said: “Jack is a very exciting full-back and one we have been tracking for a while.
“Jack has shown real progression at Wimbledon and we are very excited to be able to bring him to the club.
“We feel he is a player that can make an immediate impact, but at 22 he is also at an age where he can develop within our exciting group.”
