Nic Gibson Joins OUWFC

Oxford United Women are delighted to announce the signing of Nic Gibson from AFC Wimbledon.

Gibson won the FAWNL Southern Premier Division with Watford FC Women last season, and brings a wealth of experience to Sam Rose’s side.

Nic told OUFC.co.uk

‘I'm buzzing and delighted to be here. I've heard a lot of great things about the club so I’m just happy to have signed it and I’m looking forward to getting going.

‘It was a great season with Watford last year. We had some really good battles with Oxford and it went right down to the wire. From that season, Oxford always gave a great account of themselves, especially that game at Vicarage Road and that was a big part of joining here.

‘My conversations with Sam have all been really positive, he has a vision and he knows how he wants to do things. I think he's got all the players on board so I’m looking forward to learning from and working with him and so building that relationship going forward.’

‘I've probably been playing longer than I care to say for, but obviously with that comes a lot of experience, all different levels. Seeing the talented youngsters here in the first few training sessions, if I can help them in any way, then that would be great.’

Manager Sam Rose said

‘We’re delighted Nic has joined. We already have a strong group and Nic will certainly add to that. It’s important for us to have competition for places right across the squad.

‘Nic’s career to date speaks for itself, she’s played in the Championship and was part of a promotion winning side last season, so with Nic we’ve been able to add her experience as well as her ability to play across a number of positions.

‘We look forward to working with her in what is going to be an important second half of the season for us.’
