PREVIEW | Buckingham on Lincoln

Oxford United take on Lincoln City in a massive game in the Sky Bet League One play-off race on Tuesday 16th April (7:45pm), following their 5-0 thrashing of Peterborough on the weekend.

The U's boss Des Buckingham told OUFC.co.uk:

"It was a great day for everybody. I thought the fans set the scene from the start. I came out for warm up which I don't normally do because of the noise, and they were there from minute one till the end.

"You have to enjoy those moments, but since the full-time whistle went we've turned our focus to a very tough test coming up against Lincoln.

"We've got a way that we want to play and it's really starting to show through now especially when we’ve faced different tests over the last couple of weeks against different sides.

"We had two changes come in, but they fitted in seamlessly and what was pleasing was a clearer understanding to go to execute what we want. We must make sure again that we prepare ourselves correctly and we’ve done everything we need to in order to get ready for what will be a very tough test tomorrow night.

"I always talk about performance before I talk about result. I think the performances have been the most pleasing because we’ve got an identity about what we want to do. There'll be times where we don't have as much of the ball as we would like and there were moments like that on Saturday, but we defended extremely hard and extremely well.

"There are two regular season home games remaining and if we can pick up where we left off on Saturday we will be in a very good place. That’s everybody; fans, players, and everyone involved in the club.

"It was a wonderful experience for everybody. For me as head coach being here, that's the kind of club that I've come to know, and that's the kind of club that we are. To do that together is going to be so important, and we get the chance to do that tomorrow night."
