Oxford United Women secured back-to-back victories and clean sheets yesterday afternoon with an emphatic 5-0 win over Plymouth Argyle Women at Court Place Farm.
Taome Oliver, who filled in at left back, scored and played 90 minutes returning to the starting eleven. We caught up with her after the game:
“We controlled possession throughout; we had a lot of players getting on the ball in midfield and a lot of players creating chances up top. To see some clinical finishes and a clean sheet, it’s exactly what you want going into it.
“I’m not your standard left back! I’m happy to play any position for the side, it’s just another opportunity to be on the pitch and play my part.
“I think it’s part of my game to work until you can’t anymore. I was struggling with a muscle injury in pre-season and got back into the side and then had an ankle wobble which was gutting. It’s rea;;y nice to play 90 today and good to get into a solid run in training and do my bit for the team.
“When we’ve got the ball and are pinging it around, it’s how we want to play and it’s really enjoyable when we play as we did today and hopefully we can continue on an upward trend.
“It’s going to be a tough competition next weekend and we have to take everything we’ve learnt over the past few weeks and beyond that to make it come together. It’s going to be a different challenge so we have to prepare in every way we can.
The U’s travel to last seasons title challengers Portsmouth Women at Westleigh Park on Sunday 24th of September.
