Harris Ready For Blackpool Challenge

Oxford United return to Sky Bet League 1 action on Saturday when we welcome Blackpool to the Kassam Stadium (3pm)

It’s Family Day with a host of activities all around the ground and another big crowd is expected as the U’s look to continue their early season form, but as striker Mark Harris explained, spending time with your family doesn’t always go to plan:

“It was international break last weekend and with no game I was looking forward to seeing my own family but they’d gone away on holiday!

“It was still good to have a few days off and relax but you never truly switch off as a footballer. There is always a game coming up soon so you don’t want to lose touch with things, it’s only one weekend and then you are straight back at it. Obviously I had a longer break than I was expecting just a couple of weeks ago, but some of the lads maybe did need that break to recharge the batteries ready to go again, starting on Saturday.

“It will be a tough game. Blackpool got relegated from the Championship last season and have a lot of really good players, some of them I have played against before, and they have a good coach so they have settled into the season now and are going really well. Every game is a tough one but we are looking forward to it.

“We know there is a little gap in the table now but that can close quickly, and the Gaffer keeps telling us to be relentless now, just work hard game after game, keep our behaviours the same, keep our standards high, and that has worked well so far.

“We won’t get too far ahead of ourselves. Obviously, I know where we are in the table and there will be a little bit of noise around that, but right now we aren’t thinking about that, just grinding out as many wins as we can.”
