Oxford United continued their excellent away form with another three points last night as a 2-0 win at Lincoln City kept them snapping at the heels of leaders Portsmouth.
A first half header from Ciaron Brown was followed up by what most people thought was an own goal in the second half although winger Stan Mills was still keen to take another look after his cross/shot caused the goal…
“It was probably an own goal” he told iFollow. “I think it was sneaking inside the far post though so we’ll watch it back and see!
“I thought it was a great away performance from us. We looked dangerous for most of the game and solid at the back. I don’t remember them getting too many chances so it was a good night. We work hard for each other and we controlled the game by having more of the ball than them. When they did win it we stopped them doing what they wanted to do with it and that’s a big aspect of our game.
“I got my chance because of the injury to Sam Long and we all hope he is OK. It’s difficult to have a setback like that so early and he is a good player but also a good mate to everyone. But we dealt with the situation well tonight and got momentum back in the game quickly. It wasn’t too difficult for me coming on so early really: The Gaffer always want us to be ready and I felt that when I came on.
“We want to thank the fans as well. They were class all night cheering us on. They gave us an extra edge and we wish them safe travels back.”
