Oxford United are delighted to support Her Game Too for this weekend’s game against Derby County helping to tackle sexist abuse within the realms of football.
#HerGameToo was founded back in 2021 by 12 female supporters passionate about eradicating sexism in the football industry.
The aim is to make sure that girls and women, no matter their age, can feel confident and safe sharing their opinion about football both in stadiums and online without fear of sexist abuse. #HerGameToo also actively supports girls football at grassroots.
All supporters can encourage their female friends to come along to matches and can ensure that they feel safe by calling out any sexist behaviour they see or hear. They can support our female fans if they see them in an uncomfortable situation, and report any incidents.
Having the partnership with #HerGameToo ensures that Oxford United remains committed to addressing the needs of its female fans and staff, and raises the profile of some of the challenges girls and women face.
Oxford United’s Her Game Too ambassador, Grace Bailey told us:
“Dedicating this weekend’s game against the Rams brings awareness to this campaign and reaches more fans locally and nationally. Thanks to the launch of this partnership last year, we held a ground-breaking evening for female fans earlier this season. Various female role models talked about their careers in football, and we were proud to be the first club to run an event like this.
“The work being done with #HerGameToo is incredible. They have partnered with over 60 of the 92 league clubs. Even if the campaign helps one fan to feel more welcome in the football community, then we are doing a good job”.
